Tornado damages homes in Daviess County

A tornado caused damage to several homes in the Daviess County community of Stanley Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Paducah reports the twister touched down just before 4 p.m. along Highway 60 in the city limits of Stanley.

Daviess County Emergency Management Director Andy Ball tells WEHT TV that 10 homes were damaged.

Cars and RV’s that were in the tornado’s path were reportedly moved several feet and power was knocked out to more than 1,000 people. There were no injuries reported.

Personnel from the National Weather Service in Paducah will be in Daviess County Sunday to conduct a damage survey.

Remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon have brought areas to the north of the southern Pennyrile significant rainfall, but far less in our area.

There’s another chance of rain Sunday and more fall-like weather with high temperatures in the 70’s will be the story through Tuesday and it won’t get out of the lower 80’s on Wednesday.
