The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office will soon say goodbye to Sheriff Ray Burnam, who will be retiring before the end of this term, effective December 1st.

Burnam says the decision comes at doctor recommendation and it will allow for the next sheriff to get started early.

He says what he’ll miss most is the people and the relationships he’s built, saying there is no place in the world like Cadiz, Kentucky.

As for what’s next, Sheriff Burnam says he intends to attend Murray State University to get a Bachelors’ degree in criminal justice and then see where that takes him.

To the residents of Trigg County, Burnam says thank you and that being sheriff has been both an honor and the best job he’s ever had.

Burnam has served as Trigg county sheriff since 2011 and Jason Barnes will take over starting January 1 after winning the primary election between the two in May.
