Murder trial for Jamal Mounts postponed

Attorneys for Jamal Mounts, the man accused of murdering his mother and assaulting his aunt in 2014, had their request to postpone his trial again granted Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court.

According to court officials, Judge Andrew Self granted the request to continue, with a separate request coming soon for Mounts to receive a psychological examination. A new trial date of June 10th was established.

Mounts is accused of the beating death of his mother, 65-year old Roxie Mounts, and assaulting 69-year old Marvelyn Spray on Elm Street in March 2014. He is charged with murder, burglary, assault and resisting arrest.

Trial had been set to begin Monday.
