Soyars sworn in as county attorney

John Soyars is officially the Christian County Attorney after he was sworn in by District Judge Foster Cotthoff during a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Christian County Justice Center.

Mike Foster stepped down at the end of August after 43 years in the county attorney’s office and introduced Soyars, saying he will serve Christian County well.

Soyars says the county attorney’s office will keep the same commitment to the community it’s had under Foster’s leadership.

He thanked the staff of the county attorney’s office who were in attendance, in addition to dozens of community members, friends, family and dignitaries.

He also thanked Judge-Executive Steve Tribble for appointing him to the position for the remainder of Foster’s term. Soyars is unopposed in the general election and will begin a four-year term in January. His father, Tom Soyars, also served as county attorney and circuit judge in Christian County.
