The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department has received grant money to purchase much-needed equipment.
According to a post on the department Facebook page, they received an Assistance to Firefighters grant of about $49,000 for vehicle extrication equipment and a gear washer.
Pembroke will be only the second department in Christian County to receive the extrication equipment and officials say it will allow them to efficiently and safely get patients out of motor vehicle accidents.
