Two served with marijuana trafficking warrants

Two Hopkinsville residents were arrested Thursday morning for felony marijuana trafficking indictments out of Ohio County and they are facing new local charges.

Hopkinsville Police stopped 39-year old Eric Taylor on Woodridge Road just before 8 a.m., knowing he was wanted on an indictment warrant, and a computer check showed his driver’s license was also suspended.

Taylor didn’t have insurance on his car and reportedly admitted to having a small bag of marijuana hidden between the seats. A search allegedly revealed a larger bag in the console and further investigation at a home on Wooldridge turned up additional items consistent with trafficking.

Taylor and a woman at the home identified as 35-year old Shannon Preston of Hopkinsville, were both served with the Ohio County indictments for trafficking in marijuana and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

Taylor is charged locally with trafficking in marijuana, and counts related to not having insurance or a license plate and driving with a suspended license. Preston was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
