On the PGA Tour, Bryson DeChambeau closed with a 2-under 69 for a four-shot victory at the Northern Trust in the FedEx Cup playoff opener. DeChambeau never let anyone get closer than two shots and moved to the top of the FedEx Cup standings while boosting his chances to be in Paris at the end of next month for the Ryder Cup.
Scott Parel at 18 under was a three shot winner over Kevin Sutherland at the PGA Tour Champions Boeing Classic outside of Seattle. Franklin’s Kenny Perry tied for 28th at five under par while Paducah’s Russ Cochran withdrew following the first round.
