Sanctuary, Inc. director talks service, advocacy

A group of people heard from Sanctuary, Inc. Executive Director Heather Lancaster Friday morning as part of the Christian County Health Department lunch and learn series.

Lancaster spoke about what Sanctuary’s mission is and says they strive to provide not only a place for people to stay during a time of crisis, but also to help those people in numerous ways to improve their lives. She says Sanctuary is not there to tell people what to do, but to help them achieve their goals.

She says in 2017, Sanctuary, which serves the nine county Pennyrile region, provided services to nearly 1,000 victims of domestic or sexual abuse, whether that was with housing, therapy, legal assistance or medically.

Lancaster says they also have several children’s programs, including a summer camp that allows them to have fun and just be kids for a while.

Lancaster says they serve all victims, male or female, and anyone in need can reach out to them through their 24 hour crisis hotline at 800-766-0000.
