There will be a public hearing before the regular August meeting of the Christian County School Board Thursday night for discussion of a possible increase to the property tax rates.
The proposed rate for real and personal property is 42.8 cents per $100 of assessed value, up from 41.6 cents during fiscal year 2018. It would mean an extra $12 on the property tax bill of the owner of a $100,000 home.
The hearing will be at 5:30 in the meeting room at the Christian County Board of Education on Glass Avenue and board members will hear public comments.
School board members will take up the proposed tax hike and other items during their regular meeting in the same room at 6 p.m.
