CCPS opens new school year

Christian County Public Schools opened for the first day of the new year Thursday and Hopkinsville High School students were greeted by a new principal and a new organization offering them support.

Dr. John Gunn welcomed students as they arrived at the building and says he’s confident the staff, faculty and students are ready for a successful year.

Members of a new organization called Tiger Connection were just inside the front doors and Stephanie Harton says they were handing out supplies to students at the middle and high schools.

Harton says Tiger Connection will remain busy throughout the year finding ways to support the students, faculty, staff and buildings any way they can.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and Heritage Christian Academy also opened Thursday. Trigg County Schools open Monday and University Heights Academy has its first day on Wednesday of next week.
