UPDATED: Automobile found submerged in Lake Beshear

Personnel from several area agencies spent Wednesday afternoon and evening at Lake Beshear in northwestern Christian County after a fisherman spotted a vehicle submerged in the water on his electronic fish-finder.

Six divers came from Henderson County and two from Hopkins and they determined the automobile had likely been there for several decades, according to Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham, who said they were also able to confirm the vehicle was unoccupied.

An attempt was made to pull the vehicle from the water, but it was too badly deteriorated and only a metal piece could be retrieved.

Kentucky State Police, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Dawson Springs Police and the Christian County Rescue Squad all assisted at the scene.
