An Elkton woman and a Greenville man were killed Saturday morning in a motorcycle accident in Muhlenberg County.
It happened just before noon in the 1500 block of North Second Street in Central City, according to Central City Police.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 64-year old Dennis Helton of Greenville was southbound when Helton lost control of his bike, crossed the northbound lane and exited the east side of the road.
Helton and his passenger, 64-year old Donna Latham of Elkton, were both ejected from the motorcycle. Helton was pronounced dead at the scene and Latham died at a local hospital.
Online reports indicate Helton and Latham were participating in a Bikers Ride Against Bullies event. The group’s mission is to show kids who have been victims of bullying that they have people on their side who they can reach out to for support.
Latham was retired from the Todd County School System, where she had worked as a school bus driver.
