Former Kentucky Colonel and University of Louisville standout Ron Thomas died Saturday evening according to the Courier Journal at age 67. Thomas attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Louisville was part of a Final Four team at U of L in 1972 and played for the Kentucky Colonels team that won the franchise’s lone American Basketball Association title in 1975. He was known as “The Plumber” which former Colonel teammate Dan Issel says was due to Thomas’ poor shooting touch. Issel added Thomas made up for his lack of offensive fire power by being a fine defensive and rebounding player.
