The Todd County Central High School Site Based Decision Making Council has selected the school’s next principal.
Deatrick Kinney was already an assistant principal at Todd Central the last two years and came to Elkton from the Fulton County school system, where he taught physical education for eight years.
Kinney was also the head football coach at Fulton County High School for four years.
He says in a news release that one challenge in taking over at Todd Central will be meeting the students’ needs under the new Kentucky accountability system. He says he will be working to ensure each student is empowered and equipped with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to pursue a successful future.
Kinney continues, “Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of getting to know some of the amazing students, parents, and staff at TCCHS, learning about the rich school history of TCCHS and Todd County. One of the greatest takeaways from these conversations has been the immense enthusiasm and pride for the school and community.”
He replaces Jennifer Pope, who was hired as Director of District Wide Services at the central office.
