Alcohol a factor in Hopkins Co. motorcycle wreck

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department a Saturday motorcycle wreck that sent a Beaver Dam man to an Evansville hospital.

According to the collision report, deputies responded to Jewell City Road near Slaughters for reports of a single-vehicle wreck involving a motorcycle. Investigation reportedly determined that Aaron McQuady of Beaver Dam had been operating the motorcycle west when he sped up in an attempt to pass a vehicle.

While doing so, he lost control of the bike and struck a concrete culvert on the side of the roadway. McQuady was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment of injuries.

He was reportedly not wearing a helmet and alcohol is suspected as a factor in the wreck. The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending.
