The Cincinnati Reds exploded for six runs in the fourth inning as they grabbed a 7-4 win over the Chicago White Sox in the rubber match of their three-game series at Great American Ball Park. The Reds begin a nine game, three city road trip tomorrow afternoon at the Chicago Cubs.
Elsewhere in Interleague play: Willson Contreras homered in the sixth and doubled in two more in the seventh as the Chicago Cubs beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2. The Cubs are also off today.
Julio Teheran struck out 10 in five innings, but also allowed five runs as the Atlanta Braves lost 6-2 to the New York Yankees. The Braves open a weekend series tonight at Milwaukee.
In the National League: Tommy Pham had three hits and three RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals doubled up the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-4. Yadier Molina hit a three-run blast to cap St. Louis’ five-run seventh inning. The Cardinals open a series at the San Francisco Giants tonight.
