West wins high scoring affair in OVL All Star Game

It was a tale of two different games at the OVL All Star game last night. The East built a 9-0 lead after 4 ½ innings after grand slam home runs by Nolan Ramsey of Dubois County and Paul Haupt of Henderson.However, the West team coached by Hoptown Hopper skipper Brock Moss scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, eight in the bottom of the sixth and four in the seventh inning in winning 17-11 in a game stopped after 7 ½ innings due to pitching concerns.

Madisonville’s Graham Hackbarth was named the game’s MVP after leading the West 17 hit attack with three singles. Hoptown’s MJ Rookard had two hits in three at bats with fellow Hoppers Blake Jackson going 2-3 and Cole Cummings adding a hit in three tries.

Paul Haupt of Henderson was the East’s leading hitter going 2-3. Paducah’s Caleb Reinhardt was the pitching winner for the West while Luke Fitton of Dubois County was the loser for the East.

Sid Kumar of Owensboro won the Home Run Derby with four out of the park with Hoptown’s Blake Jackson going yard twice.
Muhlenberg County’s Justin Chauvin won the Fielding Challenge with fellow Stallion Allen Howe winning the Pitching Challenge.

Today’s game: While most of the OVL has the day off, Muhlenberg County plays at Henderson in a 5 pm doubleheader.
