Warrant: Workplace dispute led to burglary

A workplace disagreement led to an alleged incident earlier this month that ended with the arrest of a Hopkinsville man for burglary.

An arrest warrant for 36-year old Ryan Barnett of Hopkinsville says the victim had been fired from his place of employment and believed it was because of lies told by Barnett. The victim then then divulged information to the employer that led to Barnett being fired.

On June 6th, Barnett allegedly went to the home of the victim and began beating on the front door. An 11-year old girl answered and Barnett forced his way inside.

The victim picked up a baseball bat, but put it back down because his family was in the living area and the warrant says Barnett picked it up and began swinging it, striking the girl and causing a small bruise.

Barnett left the scene prior to police arrival, but was arrested Friday night on Velma Drive and is facing one count of first-degree burglary.
