Severe storms cause downed trees, power outages

A line of severe thunderstorms that plowed through the area Thursday night caused downed trees and significant power outages.

The largest outage in Christian County was in the Oak Grove area, where Pennyrile Electric reported about 5,000 members being in the dark at one time. A listener to WHOP sent in a photo of a tree that was blown onto her car in a driveway in the Pembroke area.

Numerous trees were blown down in Trigg County and about 1,500 members lost power there. A tree was reportedly blown onto the back porch of a Cunningham Avenue home in Cadiz.

A southward plunge of the line of storms allowed Todd County to avoid the worst of the winds.

There were no reports of injuries with any of the storms.
