Woman arrested for opiates, weapon

A traffic stop at West Ninth and Bethel Street early Friday morning led to the arrest of a passenger.

Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Chris Bond stopped 31-year old Shane Hawkins of Hopkinsville just after midnight for driving with no headlights and a computer check showed his vehicle registration was expired. He was cited for both offenses.

An arrest citation for a passenger—39-year old Amy Marcella Williams of Hopkinsville—says she was arrested for having a slap jack weapon concealed in her purse. On the way to jail, she admitted to having Lortab and Gabapentin pills concealed in her clothing.

She is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of opiates and prescription pills not in the proper container.
