A Hopkinsville man was arrested in Logan County Sunday afternoon on drug charges.
Deputy Jason Brent was traveling on US 68 about 2:50 p.m. and saw a vehicle driven by 56-year old Martin Smith of Hopkinsville pull to the shoulder when Smith saw officers ahead investigating an accident from earlier in the day.
Smith swapped positions in the car with his wife and Deputy Brent made a traffic stop after finding their action suspicious.
A computer check showed Smith’s license was suspended for a previous DUI and a search allegedly revealed a Hydrocodone pill in his pants pocket. Smith claimed he had bought the pants at a uniform store in Clarksville and said the pill wasn’t his.
He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, prescription pill not in the proper container and driving on a DUI suspended license.
