Kentucky unemployment up slightly from April to May

Unemployment was up slightly from April to May in Kentucky, but down from the number one year ago.

The state’s seasonally adjusted preliminary May unemployment rate was 4.1 percent, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, up from the even 4 percent reported for April.

It was down 1 percentage point from the 5.1 percent recorded for the state in May of last year.

The national jobless rate for May was 3.8 percent, down one tenth of a point from the 3.9 percent reported for April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
