MLB Roundup-Reds, Cards, Cubs lose-Braves win

Carlos Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to help the Colorado Rockies beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-6 to open a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. Anthony DeSclafani returned to the mound for the first time since 2016, taking the loss. He gave up four runs on six hits in five innings. Elsewhere in the National League: The Miami Marlins snapped a six game losing skid, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4 in St. Louis. Game two is this evening.

Zack Eflin pitched one-run ball into the eighth inning as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised past the Chicago Cubs 6-1 at Wrigley Field. The series continues tonight.

The Atlanta Braves pounded out 18 hits and three homers to crush the San Diego Padres 14-1 at Petco Park. The series concludes this afternoon.
