A woman who had been missing several days was found dead Tuesday in a wrecked vehicle on Graysville Road near Guthrie.

Todd County Coroner Timothy Wells identified the victim as 77-year old Erica Shirer of Clarksville. She was last seen leaving Tiny Town Bingo in Guthrie Saturday evening and friends reported her missing in Montgomery County on Monday.

Friends, Guthrie Police Chief Matthew Humble and Sgt. Dean Blumel, Clarksville Police officers, the Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department and Todd County Rescue conducted a search Tuesday and Sgt. Blumel says some of those friends found her vehicle just under a mile north of the state line.

Sgt. Blumel says it appears Shirer had been headed south when she ran off the road for unknown reasons, struck an embankment, went airborne and came to rest in a tree line. Her vehicle was not visible from the road, making it difficult to locate.

Kentucky State Police and Guthrie Police are investigating the incident, which marks Todd County’s second traffic fatality of 2018.
