Madisonville man arrested for placing fake bomb in mailbox

Madisonville Police charged a man with terroristic threatening Tuesday after he allegedly placed an item that looked like a bomb in a mailbox.

A resident in the Columbus Circle neighborhood called dispatch after finding the suspicious package in a mailbox and officers called for assistance from the Owensboro Police Department bomb squad.

Shortly after the bomb squad arriving, 39-year old Jerrod Larkins arrived and admitted he had placed the simulated explosive device in the mailbox as a prank.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.
