A flood warning is in effect until 9:45 this morning as the remnants of Alberto have brought heavy rain and winds that downed trees and power lines.
The warning includes Christian, Todd, Trigg, Lyon, Marshall and McCracken Counties and the National Weather Service in Paducah says heavy rain is causing ponding and minor flooding on some roadways in the warning area.
A dispatcher at Christian County ECC said local and state crews have been out all night and morning clearing trees. A tree was cleared from Cox Mill Road near Fairfax Drive after a car hit it earlier in the morning. No one was injured in that incident.
Pennyrile Electric is addressing multiple power outages across its counties and Hopkinsville Electric System has stayed busy as well.
Approximately 469 Pennyrile Electric members were still without power as of about 7 a.m. The largest outages are 110 members without power south of Trenton and 51 out near Apex.
Dispatchers in Todd County said crews there had been busy all night clearing trees from roads.
Trigg County Dispatch did not have any current reports of trees on roads and none of the counties had any major flooding issues to report, though water is standing in some of the usual places.
Motorists should be on the lookout for downed trees and standing water as they make their morning commute.
While rain won’t be as widespread tomorrow, the Storm Prediction Center has our area under a slight risk for severe weather during the afternoon and evening.
