Former Kentucky New Era sports editor Chris Jung is coming back to Hopkinsville and the City announced his new position as Marketing and Events Coordinator.
The job will primarily focus on programming and marketing for the Hopkinsville Sportsplex that is currently under construction adjacent to the James Bruce Convention Center. Jung returns to Hopkinsville after serving in Los Angeles as Assistant Director of Communications with the Southern California Golf Association. He also previously served as Tourism Marketing Manager for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Speaking with WHOP, Jung says the community is close to his heart and he jumped at the opportunity to come back and help make the sportsplex a success.
He says his duties will include raising awareness about the indoor sports complex, connecting with teams and coaches to hold events and more, to really build on the momentum in Hopkinsville.
Jung’s first order of business will be working with Parks and Recreation as they prepare for the sportsplex opening. He is set to begin work on July 2.
Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says, “Chris’ marketing and sports media background, along with his regional array of coach and school contacts, make a perfect fit for this position as we plan and program for the Hopkinsville Sportsplex.”
