2nd region Baseball: Mother Nature had her way for a time at Christian County High School Monday, but all four first round games were completed.
Christian County had an 11 run 2nd inning in defeating Crittenden County 12-0. Wyatt Stevenson had a grand slam in that inning, which was one of three hits to go along with two Crittenden County errors. Stevenson and Patrick Croney each had two hits for Christian County, who improved to 18-12 on the season. Austin Fields got the pitching win.
Henderson County advanced to the semifinals as the northern Colonels defeated Madisonville 13-10 in a game that didn’t start until around 11 pm.
Earlier in the day, Union County weathered three rain delays and knocked out two time defending champion Caldwell County 10-6 and Trigg County opened the tournament with 6-0 win over Hopkinsville. Caleb Bapp went 3-4 in a losing effort for the Tigers who finished the season 9-22. Hopkinsville was held to six hits as Robert Justus took the pitching loss.
2nd region Softball: All four games beat the weather at Hopkins Central. Christian County defeated Trigg County 12-2 in five innings. Tyler Shemwell had three hits for the Lady Colonels with Macy Lancaster adding two hits and Reni Shemwell had a home run as Christian County improved to 33-3. Reagan Hancock got the pitching win.
The upset of the tournament was Caldwell County’s 1-0 win over Webster County. Other action saw Crittenden County rout Hopkinsville 14-0 in five innings and Madisonville over Henderson County 8-2.
