Man killed in Clarksville wreck

A single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning on Oak Street in Clarksville killed the driver and injured his passenger.

It happened about 12:45 a.m., according to Clarksville Police, who say the 37-year old man was traveling at a high rate of speed when car lost traction near 490 Oak and left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The pole was broken in three places and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year old female passenger was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was in stable condition at last check.
