Hopkinsville City Council will see a new face in January after the challenger in Ward 1 beat the incumbent in Tuesday’s primary election.
Democrat Darvin Adams ran against incumbent Thomas Grant and defeated him by 51 votes. Speaking with WHOP News after his victory, Adams says he was honored to have been selected to serve and he commended his opponent for a race well run.
Adams is unopposed in the general election. In other primaries, challenger Shannon Word lost to incumbent Wendell Lynch in Ward 6 by 80 votes. Lynch will go on to face Timothy Moss in November’s general election.
In Ward 7, incumbent Terry Parker will keep his seat, defeating opponent Faye Oglesby by 144 votes. Parker has no opponent in the general election.
