Man arrested on gun charges

A Hopkinsville man who attempted to avoid a Hands Across the Border safety check point early Saturday morning on Fort Campbell Boulevard was arrested on multiple charges.

A Christian County Sheriff’s Department report says 25-year old Edrick Burrus of Hopkinsville was stopped for trying to avoid the road block and it was determined he does not have a valid driver’s license.

A strong odor of marijuana was reportedly coming from his vehicle and Burrus allegedly admitted to smoking a marijuana cigarette an hour before he was stopped. A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun loaded with hydro shock rounds concealed under the front seat, according to the report.

Burrus was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, using restricted ammunition during commission of a felony and driving without a license.
