MLB Roundup-Cubs beat Reds, Cards & Braves win

The Chicago Cubs scored six unanswered runs after falling behind 1-0 in the first frame to beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-1. The Cubs won three of four in the series and will be off today as will the Reds. The Pittsburgh Pirates begin a three game series at Great American Ball Park tomorrow night.

Elsewhere in the National League: Jack Flaherty struck out 13 batters for the St. Louis Cardinals in a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Flaherty allowed two hits, one run and one walks over seven-and-two-thirds innings to lock down his first Major League win. Flaherty also recorded his first big league hit, and Tyler O’Neill went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. The Cardinals host Kansas City in Interleague action this evening.

The Atlanta Braves rallied for six runs in the ninth inning to walk-off the Miami Marlins 10-9. Dansby Swanson’s two-run single capped the rally for Atlanta, which trailed by as many as six runs in the game. The Braves open a series tonight at Philadelphia.
