About 30 kids participated in the Guthrie Police Department’s annual 3 on 3 youth basketball tournament Saturday at the new court on Park Street.
Sgt. Dean Blumel organizes the event each year and says it’s about giving the youth of Guthrie something fun and safe to do on a Saturday.
The tournament has been successful each year and Blumel says that’s because they maintain the relationship with the kids all year long.
He hopes the long-term results of their efforts will be better relationships with youth and adults in Guthrie.
It was the third year for the tournament and the first at the court on College Hill.
