Webb Simpson fired a nine-under 63 on Friday to storm into the lead at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Simpson is 15-under for the tournament and holds a five-stroke advantage over Charl Schwartzel, Patrick Cantlay, and Danny Lee, who are in a tie for second at minus-10.
Tiger Woods shot a second-round 71 and made the cut at one-under par in a tie for 68th. Louisville area native Justin Thomas also made the cut at one under par 143. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker and Kentuckian JB Holmes will not play the weekend.
