The City of Hopkinsville officially has a new City Administrative Officer, after Troy Body was appointed to the position at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
Body currently lives in Louisville, but he says he is in the process of moving and will soon be a proud Christian County native. He says he is excited to begin and says while local government work can be difficult, it can be rewarding and he felt an immediate connection to Hopkinsville.
He says the first order of business will be meeting with department heads and seeing how they can improve service in the city.
Body was selected following an interview process and then following closed session at Tuesday’s meeting that last around 30 minutes. He served as press secretary under former Governor Ernie Fletcher, in addition to managing the governor’s Office of Minority Empowerment.
In other action, council approved a resolution to support the Hopkinsville Police Department as they apply for a grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security. The $160,300 grant, if acquired, would be put towards purchasing a mobile command center for law enforcement and it does not require any matching funds from the city.
