The local Fraternal Order of Police will host its annual Peace Officer Memorial Service in a couple weeks and it will have a different feel this year.
The ceremony honors local police officers who have died in service to their community and FOP President Henry Gould says the name of Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham, who was shot to death on March 30th, has been added to the monument at the park on First Street next to HPD.
The keynote speaker will be Christian County Attorney Mike Foster, who is a relative of Meacham and who will retire at the end of the year.
Gould says representatives of multiple law enforcement agencies will participate in the service.
The program will begin at 4:30 p.m. on May 17th and the public is invited to attend.
