Mayor names recommendation for CAO

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks has announced who he’s recommending to be the city’s next City Administrative Officer.

Troy Body is a Harlan County native and served as press secretary under former Governor Ernie Fletcher, in addition to managing the governor’s Office of Minority Empowerment.

He worked in South Sudan for Democracy International in 2015 and 2016 and spent time in South Sudan, Zimbabwe and Nigeria while working for International Republican Institute between 2011 and 2014.

Body has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Marshall University in West Virginia.

Mayor Carter Hendricks says, “Troy’s experience with city, state, and federal government will provide him with a unique set of skills and experience that we believe will help our community grow and move forward.  We look forward to working with Troy and his enthusiasm, energy, and experience.”

The recommendation comes with a starting salary of $92,620 and Body would begin his duties May 14, pending Hopkinsville City Council’s approval Tuesday night.

In a news release, Mayor Hendricks thanks the members of council who assisted with the search.
