The Christian County Public School System has received two literacy grants from the Kentucky Department of Education totaling $1.2 million.
According to a news release, the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy program uses a comprehensive approach to advance literacy through the development of pre-literacy skills, reading, and writing among students of all ages, including those with limited-English-proficiency and those with disabilities.
Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says, “These grants will help ensure pre-school grade students are ready for Kindergarten. Through our community partnerships with various child service agencies, our schools are well suited to implement new programs that target the literacy learning experience.”
