The Hopkinsville-Inner City Community Housing Development Organization hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking Wednesday afternoon for its second inner-city development.
A duplex that is 600 square feet on each floor is under construction at 433 and 435 West Edmunds Street and it’s in partnership with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Development Corporation, Christian County Landbank Authority and Community Development Services.
The Inner-City REZ Program is assisting United Southern Bank in financing the project.
Mayor Carter Hendricks says providing much-needed new housing in the inner-city requires such partnerships.
Brandon Garnett is the president of the Landbank Authority and says the area of Jennie Stuart Medical Center was a target area for new development when they organized a decade ago.
The Inner City Community Housing Development Organization provides opportunities for safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low and moderate income families in the city of Hopkinsville.
