The Illinois man flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a single-vehicle accident last week on I-24 in Christian County died from his injuries.
The victim is identified on a Christian County Sheriff’s Department report as Jamie Bosshart of Aurora, Illinois. Bosshart had been headed east near the 79 mile-marker about 1 a.m. last Wednesday when witnesses said he appeared to swerve to miss a deer. Another witness said he was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Bosshart over-corrected, spun and slid off the right side of the road, causing his SUV to go airborne and flip. Bosshart was ejected and found about 22 feet from his vehicle.
He was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries about six hours later.
The police report says Bosshart smelled of alcohol and numerous beer cans were found in the debris field from the wreck. Alcohol involvement is listed as a factor in the incident.
