HCC’s sixth president, Dr. Alissa Young, inaugurated

Hopkinsville Community College faculty, staff and students celebrated their sixth president, Dr. Alissa Young, who was inaugurated Thursday afternoon.

The event was filled with laughter, memories and dreams of the future. Dr. Young accepted her charge from Dr. Jay Box, Kentucky Community and Technical College System president, who charged her with serving with integrity and defending HCC’s standards of excellence.

Dr. Young thanked many people in her life, including her husband and family, her colleagues and mentors, and also the student body of HCC, saying their best interests shape her every action.

She says great things are happening at Hopkinsville Community College, and she will continue fostering relationships in the community and surrounding areas the make the college the best it can be.

Presidents from colleges across the state were in attendance and the auditorium building was filled the brim with well-wishers, family members, students, citizens and college staff. Dr. Young has served at HCC since 1991 and assumed the presidency in October 2017.
