Trial was postponed Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court for murder suspect Sergio Del Angel and Judge John Atkins voiced his displeasure with delays caused by the State Crime Lab.
Del Angel allegedly shot and killed Kristofer Armstrong on Kenwood Drive on May 11th of last year and he’s charged with murder. Trial was set for Monday, but Commonwealth’s Attorney Lynn Pryor said Wednesday that DNA and ballistic test results haven’t come back from the crime lab.
She says the defense and Armstrong’s family are okay with the delay, knowing it would be very difficult to have a fair trial without those results.
Judge Atkins set a new trial date of November 19th, but says the crime lab is “unfairly delaying justice” in several cases with its slow work.
Del Angel will be back in court for a pre-trial conference on September 12th.
