Owensboro to host Kentucky 2A basketball tournament in 2019

Organizers of the Kentucky 2-A championship say the city of Owensboro will host the inaugural edition of the tournament next year. Chairman Jeremy Tackett, athletic director at Union County, says a partnership with Owensboro will be in place through 2021, with games to be played at the Owensboro SportsCenter.

Organizers also unveiled the tournament’s logo today. The group also noted in a news release that baseball, softball and volleyball will be added beginning in the 2020-21 season, with boys and girls soccer to be added in 2021-22. The sites hosting those events will be announced before next year’s basketball event.

Teams in Section One eligible for the basketball tournament are: Paducah Tilghman, Calloway County, Caldwell County, Trigg County, Webster County, Union County, Hopkins Central, Glasgow, Warren East, Warren Central, Franklin Simpson and Allen County-Scottsville
