Vince Tyra has had the interim title removed as he was named the new athletic director at the University of Louisville today. The school’s board of trustees approved a five-year contract with Tyra, who will be paid $850,000 per year. Interim president Greg Postel:
Tyra’s first job will be finding a permanent men’s basketball coach. That hire is expected soon, and Xavier coach Chris Mack is reportedly at the top of the list.
The 52-year-old Tyra is the son of the late U of L basketball All-American Charlie Tyra.
