Service recognized at Compass Awards

Fifteen local businesses and organizations were honored Thursday evening at the annual Christian County Chamber of Commerce Compass Awards.

A new category this year was the Agriculture/Agri Business Award and it was presented to Security Seed & Chemical, Inc. Ebonite International took home the Century Award, recently celebrating 50 years in Hopkinsville, and this year’s Food Service Award went to Davo’s Burgers & Fries. Davo’s owner Dave Saldana says the restaurant’s success is a team effort and he was honored to receive the award.

The Hopkinsville Police Department took home the Friend of the Community Award and officer Mike Atkins says it’s a wonderful feeling to be recognized for their hard work and the efforts the department makes to reach out to the community.

The Hopkinsville YMCA was the winner of the Health/Wellness Award, Hopkinsville Brewing Company took the Horizon Award, the Industrial/Commercial Services Award went to Seimer Milling and Grace and Mercy was presented with the Non-Profit Award. The Kentucky New Era claimed the Regionalism Award, Residential Services Award went to DJ’s Flooring, Magnolia Too Boutique was the recipient of the Retail Award and Williams Advertising Company took the Specialized Service Award.

Chamber President and CEO Kelli Pendleton says the awards banquet is about showing appreciation for everyone’s hard work and perseverance.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurism Award went to Griffin’s Studio, Higgins Insurance was presented with the Quality Service Award and Young Hardware took home the Sunset Award.
