Hopkinsville claims awards at Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society luncheon

Several Hopkinsville individuals and a city department were recognized during the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society award luncheon Wednesday in Louisville.

According to a news release, the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department received the Outstanding Program Award for the Solar Eclipse-Summer Salute Festival held in August. Recreation and Parks Executive Director Terri Wilkerson says, “Although the Hopkinsville Parks and Rec department has a relatively small full-time staff, the department positively impacts their community in many ways.  The magnitude of those efforts were extraordinary for any department, any size.”

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman was named the Professional of the Year for his leadership in the event. He says a coach is only as good as his team and he is blessed to work with a wonderful team.

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks was the recipient of the Public Official of the Year Award for his Hopkinsville-Christian County WINS initiative and his support of parks in the city. Mayor Hendricks says he is honored to receive the award, saying it is recognition of the vision and leadership held be city council and Christian Fiscal Court.
