An investigation on US 68 in Logan County Thursday evening led to the arrests of two people on drug and gun charges.
Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyler Harvey saw a vehicle with its hood up parked in the emergency lane near C. Dodson Lane and he stopped to see if he could assist.
A news release says there was an odor of marijuana coming from the car and a search allegedly revealed marijuana, prescription pills and a loaded handgun underneath clothes in the floorboard of the vehicle.
Police arrested 29-year old Cecil Dewayne Steele of Russellville for carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Twenty-five year old Lorine Latrish Posey of Russellville was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, prescription pills not in the proper container and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
