Two corrections officers received treatment for injuries sustained during an attack Wednesday morning at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville.
According to an updated news release from Kentucky State Police, the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. while a correctional officer was removing an inmate from a room. The inmate allegedly assaulted the officer and other inmates joined in before quickly being restrained by other officers. Per policy, the whole facility was put on lockdown.
Two correctional officers, whose names have not been released, were treated and released at a local hospital for minor injuries.
The inmates will receive charges and the investigation continues.
