Winter weather has impact on parts of region

Just as the National Weather Service predicted, any problems associated with winter weather remained to our north and west overnight.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd says salt truck crews are active in Lyon, Marshall, Crittenden, Graves, Ballard and McCracken counties in the Purchase area and in Union, Henderson, Webster, Daviess and Ohio counties to our north. State trucks in Marshall County have been treating I-24 throughout the morning, according to the news release.

There reports of ice on bridges and overpasses in Christian County. Salt trucks have been called out to address the problem areas. Slow down and use appropriate caution this morning. Caldwell County has also had several accidents reported due to ice.

The Mesonet sites across western Kentucky showed air temperatures falling below freezing early this morning—so motorists should be on the lookout for black ice and slow down—especially at bridges and overpasses.

Muhlenberg County schools are operating on a one-hour delay this morning and Hopkins and Caldwell County Schools are closed.
