Man arrested for cocaine, marijuana

A vehicle pursuit that began on West 14th Street in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon ended with the arrest of the driver for cocaine and marijuana charges.

Officer Jerry Marcum attempted to stop 25-year old Shawn Boykin of Hopkinsville at 14th and Bethel after seeing him driving without a seatbelt. An arrest citation says Boykin continued driving, turned onto Richard Street and then into a driveway on Canton Street.

The end of a marijuana cigarette was in plain view in the vehicle and police say a search revealed a baggie of cocaine.

Boykin was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, fleeing or evading police, driving without registration, for not having his driver’s license and not wearing a seat belt.
